Full Italian podium of MotoGP – Japan
The real typhoon which was threatening the Japan on Friday went away, but another typhoon raised on the track, his name was: Loris Capirossi. The combination of the 3 factors: Capirossi, Ducati, Bridgestone proved to be deadly on Motegi circuit they succeed, like they did last year, the “clean sweep”: race win, pole and lap record. Loris smashed the lap record with more than half of a second and during the race he was completely untouchable, he lead the race from start up to the end and not even all-mighty Valentino Rossi could match with him.
Second came Valentino Rossi which cut off the gap from general standings down to only 12 points from Nicky Haiden. Marco Melandri came 3rd filling up the podium with italian flag even they represent 3 different brands: Ducati, Yamaha and Honda. They finished in same positions as they started from the grid
.
On 4th came Sete Gibernau which faced a touch in rear wheel coming from Shinya Nakano in last lap, Nakano was too willing to have a better result in front of his compatriots and ruined everything in last corners when he went down. Nicky Haiden came fifth in these conditions.
All polls from internet are showing a huge difference when it is asked if Valentino Rossi will win the championship even there are still 12 points in advantage of Haiden and only 2 races to go. Italian it is preferred by more than 60-70% of the persons who answered to different polls regarding this fact.
KTM made a double win on 125cc and 250cc by Mika Kallio and Hiroshi Aoyama.
