125cc Australian podium

On Philip Island circuit took place the 14th race of 2006 MotoGP some interesting events happened.

On 125cc Alvaro Bautista became world champion even there are still 3 more races until the finish of this season, he won in front of forever runner up Mika Kallio and Thomas Luthi.

On 250cc Jorge Lorenzo came on first place matching the record of 8 wins in a season and 9 poles in a season and extended his lead with 24 points ahead of Andrea Dovizioso who finished 4th, San Marino’s pilot Alex De Angelis came second with a gap of only 0.009 seconds and Hiroshi Aoyama 3rd.

MotoGP Autralian podium

On MotoGP class the rain which appeared suddenly in same time with the start of the race, was major factor who influenced the results. It was first time when pilots came to boxes and change their bikes during the race to get rain tires. Marco Melandri won in front of the local gladiator Chris Vermeulen from Suzuki. On 3rd came Valentino Rossi which narrowed down to 21 points the Niky’s Hayden advantage in general standings.

Next race will be Grand Prix of Japan on 24 September 2006.
