MotoGP Portugal GP results
After for the first time this year two Yamaha riders started from first two places Valentino Rossi was looking good in first place with Colin Edwards guarding his back from the HRC riders Dani Pedrosa and Nicky Hayden.
Some nasty accidents took place in the middle of the race Shinya Nakano felt off pretty nasty, Sete Gibernau couldn’t avoid Casey Stoner which felt in his front and both went out; but most important accident was between Dani Petrosa and Nicky Hayden. After Nicky took 3rd position from Dani in a hard manner, spaniard looked like he wanted to revenge and tried to gain back his lost position from Hayden but he lost his front wheel and knocked his team mate also and both of them went out allowing Rossi take advantage in general standings.
Toni Ellias after a superb run won the race on finish line in front of Valentino Rossi. Third came Kenny Roberts Jr which beat Colin Edwards.
The general standings have changed Valentino Rossi gaining 1st position with 8 points more than Nicky Hayden before the last race of 2006 championship.
