Motorycle Repair Manual Club celebrates 1000 registred users

Has been only 20 days since I reopened the new motorcycle manuals site and already reached 1000 active users. Even the previous site was a success, because of a mistake I lost the address of the manualclub.com site (the manuals collection and the data weren’t lost), I rebuild a completely new site far better than the previous one.

The need of such a site and the help of bikers communities made this site to develop so fast and raise from previous site ashes. I didn’t launched the site officially and didn’t started to promoted it because the site still has some bugs and I don’t want to offer a site which is working partially, I only tried to inform the motorcycle sites, forums, communities which were showing the manualclub link as a reward and tell them about the new address of the motorcycle manuals site.

The communities and the social activity on internet are the engine of RepairManualClub site, that’s why I’m repeating all the time that if the users will contribute to the site then the site has a bright future, think if a biker finds this site and spreads the word about it than he helps a lot others bikers which are reading his find. The contributions can take many forms like:

  • uploading new manuals
  • advertise the site
  • commenting the manuals in the site (using Add a comment) or
  • rating a manual
  • donating a small amount

Donations even look like I’m taking advantage of them is not like this at all, all money are raised to buy a dedicated server for the site which will increase the speed of the site and will let me to develop more features into the site. So I’m not taking those money, I’m just give them back to the community.

I want to thank personally to all those who donated: KTMErnie, Jason Engelman, Michael Fischer-TheFlyingBanana, Rusty, Duck, Flash Harry, Peter Monk, Troy Cardenas, Andrew Oakley, Dave (scription), John (Hybridracingca), nukered, 007bobbo, Sjbahn.

Please let me know when you made a contribution and I will reward you with an increased usergroup which means that you are able to download more manuals.

The lucky 1000 user is albdella from Italy and will be moved to advanced usergroup.

MotoGP Portugal GP results

After for the first time this year two Yamaha riders started from first two places Valentino Rossi was looking good in first place with Colin Edwards guarding his back from the HRC riders Dani Pedrosa and Nicky Hayden.

Some nasty accidents took place in the middle of the race Shinya Nakano felt off pretty nasty, Sete Gibernau couldn’t avoid Casey Stoner which felt in his front and both went out; but most important accident was between Dani Petrosa and Nicky Hayden. After Nicky took 3rd position from Dani in a hard manner, spaniard looked like he wanted to revenge and tried to gain back his lost position from Hayden but he lost his front wheel and knocked his team mate also and both of them went out allowing Rossi take advantage in general standings.

Toni Ellias after a superb run won the race on finish line in front of Valentino Rossi. Third came Kenny Roberts Jr which beat Colin Edwards.

The general standings have changed Valentino Rossi gaining 1st position with 8 points more than Nicky Hayden before the last race of 2006 championship.

Teams changes for 2007 in MotoGP

Shinya Nakano will leave from Kawasaki to replace Makoto Tamada at Konika Minolta. This was confirmed by the MotoGP Kawasaki Racing team manager Harald Eckl to motogp.com:
Shinya has decided not to continue with Kawasaki next year, so we are looking at another rider to join our team (alongside Randy de Puniet)” also Eckl has denied the rumors about Hiroshi Aoyama will replace Shinya due to an already signed contract between the 250cc star and KTM. Another rumor was blasted by Kawasaki team manager about Max Biaggi which will break his contract with Alstare Suzuki WSBK and join Eckl’s team in 2007:
That was just a rumour. Even Max called me and said ‘what’s this about me coming to Kawasaki?’ and I said ‘no Max, we will not contact you about the ride’ and that is the end of the rumour and any speculation about Max,

Many other important pilots’ names were related by Kawasaki like Alex Barros, Sete Gibernau and Carlos Checa but none was confirmed.

Carlos Checa is still wanted for another year in his team Tech 3 Yamaha even his name was linked with Ducati among with Kawasaki. His team mate James Ellison is not in same position and looks like he will loose his position from Tech 3 Yamaha.

Also Sete Gibernau seems to be replaced in Ducati team by the Honda rookie Casey Stoner, his statement wasn’t very clean-cut:”I suppose we are nearer to a conclusion to the saga of what I’ll be doing next season, because we are nearer the end of 2006!” smiled Casey.

At the 125cc class KTM announced that junior team will be integrated into the main factory team and KTM will have with at least 4 riders for the next year. Only 3 pilots were officially announced by the KTM Road Racing Director – Harald Bartol: Julian Simon (Spain, 19 years), Tomoyoshi Koyama (Japan, 23 years) and the junior rider Randy Krummenacher (Switzerland, 16 years):
We are very pleased that as well as Julian Simon, Tomoyoshi Koyama signed with us during the recent Grand Prix in Japan and together with junior rider Randy Krummenacher, rounds up the team.” said Harald Bartol about new pack of KTM riders for 2007 “By doing this we can be sure that we will be able to have a maximum amount of success with our project” continued Racing Director about the new mix of the KTM factory team with their junior team.

Mauro Lamandini, Ducati’s Engine Project Engineer, died last Wednesday.

Federico Minoli – Ducati CEO wrote in his Desmoblog:

I am sorry to say that Mauro Lamandini, Ducati’s Engine Project Engineer, died an untimely death last Wednesday.

I did not know Mauro very well but coincidentally, in the last couple of days, I have been working on some texts he prepared for a new Ducati book. The text I read was written well, with a clear and strong style; it was written by a person with a deep technical knowledge and a strong passion for his work.

I am profoundly touched by the fact that I will not have the chance to know him better. I know I speak for all of us here at Ducati when I say that we have lost a precious friend.

Ride in peace Mauro

Honda new V4 800cc model for 2007 season of MotoGP

On Motegi Honda Racing HRC tested their new 800cc motorcycle for MotoGP 2007 season. Currently RC211V Honda uses a V5 engine with 990cc capacity but for next year it will match the competition moving to 4 cylinders. Ducati and Suzuki already use a V4 and Yamaha and Kawasaki are using an inline-4 cylinders.

MotoGP rules are imposing starting with 2007 all engines must have a maximum 800cc capacity, all teams started to develop completely new bikes for next season. Would be interesting to see which team will accommodate faster to the new regulations but the general impression is that even the engines are dropping from 1000cc down to 800cc the performance of the bikes will higher next year.

First to test the new 800cc Honda supposed to be Nicky Hayden but because of the rain all testing session was canceled, Nicky must wait after the final race of 2006 at Valencia on end of October to ride the 2007 bike.

“I was getting ready to do a few laps on the 800 when it started to rain, but Ill get my crack at that bike soon plus I’ve got enough other stuff to focus on right now” said the Kentuckian preparing his race from Montegi. “The new bike looks really cool and the future seems bright for the new 800.”

Dani Pedrosa was the first to show off the new Honda’s 800cc prototype. After doing many adjustments and different settings the spanish rider reached his best time on new Honda with only 0.4s slower than his record on Japanese track.

“The first feeling is that the new bike runs well and this is very important – it works normally and everything feels fine,” said Dani. “The engine character feels a little different and this is to be expected but the package is quite similar to the RC211V. Some things about the bike feel smaller and the rear seat is much shorter which makes the whole bike look more compact. The bike has some characteristics which are a little more like a 250cc but it’s still a MotoGP bike. The lap time today is quite good for a first test but it’s too early to say whether it will be faster than the 990. The cornering speeds feel very similar to the RCV – though the corner speed at Motegi is very low because there are many hairpins, so it’s very difficult to say definitely whether it’ll be quicker. This was a good first test though.”

The 2007 Honda MotoGP motorcycle will be officially presented at the Valencia Grand Prix from October 29 2006.

Below you can watch some images from Dani Pedrosa’s test and hear for the first time the 800cc engines.
